SIDA / Swedsurvey (Bolivia & Moldova)
Building Geospatial Capability Across Borders
Case Study - International Development & Geospatial Strategy
Turning Specialised Knowledge into International Impact
The Challenge
Establishing geospatial digitalisation capabilities in emerging or developing contexts is rarely just a technical exercise. It demands the ability to communicate genuinely complex, specialised concepts clearly and respectfully across significant cultural and institutional boundaries, often to audiences encountering these concepts for the first time.
“A consistent ability to translate specialised knowledge into practical impact, regardless of the operational environment.”
The Approach
SIDA and Swedsurvey selected this engagement specifically because of that combination, deep technical expertise paired with strong communication ability. The work meant on-the-ground engagement directly in Bolivia and Moldova, working hands-on within each country's specific institutional and cultural context, rather than delivering a remote or generic solution. The contribution focused on building foundational geospatial infrastructure and capability suited to what each country could realistically sustain and grow.
The Outcome
Across both engagements, the work demonstrated a consistent and repeatable ability to translate specialised, technical knowledge into genuine practical impact, regardless of the operational environment, whether that environment was a Swedish municipality or an international development context on the other side of the world.
