Akademiska Hus

Creating a Nationwide Roadmap for Digital Capability

Case Study - Property & Organisational Digitalisation

Aligning Digital Strategy Across a National Organisation

The Challenge

Akademiska Hus manages a property portfolio that spans the length of Sweden, which means digitalisation can never be approached as a single, uniform initiative. Different regions, different teams, and different facilities all operate with their own context, their own priorities, and their own starting point on the digital maturity curve. Any strategic initiative had to account for that complexity honestly, rather than imposing a one-size-fits-all solution.

A grounded, evidence-based basis for steering digital development at national scale.

The Approach

Given the scale involved, the engagement was built around extensive stakeholder collaboration - working closely with a large and genuinely diverse group of people from across the organisation, each bringing a different operational perspective. The process began with a comprehensive inventory covering all relevant technology, data, and workflows nationwide, creating, for the first time, a complete and accurate picture of where the organisation actually stood. That inventory became the evidence base for everything that followed.

The Outcome

What emerged was a detailed decision-support report delivered directly to the senior leadership team - not a generic strategy document, but one presenting concrete, specific strategic options and recommendations spanning both organisational and technological dimensions. It gave leadership a grounded, evidence-based foundation for steering the organisation's digital development with confidence, at a scale that few digitalisation initiatives ever have to address.
